Why this database exists

In January 2023, Lindsay Clancy — a labour-and-delivery nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts — was charged in the deaths of her three children. Her defence centres on postpartum psychosis, a rare and devastating condition that can strike new mothers without warning. Her case sparked a national conversation about how the justice system treats women, which too often punishes them instead of providing them with the love and support they deserve.

What we do

We maintain a sourced, factual database of open and closed cases; host a community where supporters can gather around cases and each other; and aim to be a practical starting point for advocacy organisations, defence teams, researchers, and journalists.

How cases are selected

Anyone with an account can suggest a case, and members can upvote suggestions. Volunteer reviewers then verify each suggestion against published sources before it joins the official list. We only publish information that already appears in public reporting or court records, and every case page links to its sources.

What we are not

We are not a legal organisation and nothing here is legal advice. We are not affiliated with Lindsay Clancy, her family, or her legal team - we have named the database after her landmark case and in her honour. We are not affiliated with any person named in the database. We do not claim that any listed person is innocent or guilty — that is for courts to decide. Our position is that punishing women for experiencing post-partum depression is not fair, just, or acceptable, and that key reforms are needed in the criminal justice system to ensure that women are no longer punished for experiences that are outside of their control.
